Founded in 1949, Kyung Hee University emerged in the aftermath of war as more than just an educational institution — it was established with a vision of fostering leaders who contribute to humanity and society, under the guiding philosophy of "Creating a Cultural World."
Kyung Hee has since combined scholarship and service to promote peace and progress around the world.
Today, with students from over 100 countries, Kyung Hee has become a truly global university, upholding tradition while pursuing innovation.
One of its most significant contributions has been the globalization of Korea’s traditional martial art, Taekwondo, elevating it into a world-class sport and cultural heritage.
Through Kyung Hee’s philosophy and values, Taekwondo has evolved beyond mere physical training into an education that cultivates inner growth and social responsibility.

At Hyo Taekwondo, the proud legacy of Kyung Hee University lives on — a legacy rooted in tradition yet always looking forward with innovation.
For decades, Kyung Hee University has been recognized not only as one of Korea’s most prestigious academic institutions, but also as a pioneer in integrating martial arts with character education. This philosophy continues here, at Hyo Taekwondo, where we uphold the values of respect, integrity, and excellence.
We aim not only to strengthen our students physically but also to help them grow internally, develop strong character, and become leaders who serve their communities.
Through consistent training and positive guidance, our students learn discipline, perseverance, and empathy — qualities that prepare them to face life’s challenges with confidence and resilience. Our goal is to inspire them to become individuals who shine both on the mat and in the world beyond it.
At Hyo Taekwondo, our students learn to push beyond their limits, discover their potential, and become the best versions of themselves.
